POTENTATE’S MESSAGE
The month of April is going to be the busiest of 2008 for our Shrine Family as we host the annual Ladies Luncheon, the 66th annual Al Chymia Shrine Circus, and the Potentate’s Ball on April 26th. Oh, and don’t forget our “almost famous” Wednesday night hamburger nights and monthly Prime Rib Dinner to throw just a little more action into the ring! There is definitely something “going on” at Al Chymia Temple in 2008!
Make a commitment and let’s have a great turnout for each of these events! We must have your participation and support to MAKE IT GREAT IN 2008! Al Chymia works like a well-oiled machine, we can accomplish a lot when we work together and have a lot of fun in the process. The planned activities in April are many but what a great time we will have! The Circus is the MOST IMPORTANT EVENT OF THE YEAR at Al Chymia. This is the largest fraternal fundraiser of the year. Our Shrine depends on the profits from the Circus for the majority of our annual income. It helps to keep our doors open, pay the bills, and provide the day-to-day operation of our Shrine Temple. We must have every Noble’s support to succeed in this endeavor. Buy your tickets, sell banners, bring your family and friends, come to the Circus and be a worker. Check in at the sign-in table to sell t-shirts, coloring books, and direct traffic. Join in the hospitality and WEAR YOUR FEZ. The Fez is the most recognizable symbol of our fraternity and is indeed a special “hat.” The success of the Circus depends on the hard work that you and your family do for Al Chymia.
We thank you for what you do. Get involved and be proud to be a Shriner. Membership is our #1 priority and we have a good start with our Cold Sands Ceremony in March. Our goal for 2008 is 150 new members so ask your family, friends, and visit your Blue Lodge to seek new members. Mark your calendars now for our Spring Ceremonial on May 3rd and start turning in those petitions.
We thank the “Muskeeters”, the Board of Trustees for the Shrine School, for their generous donation of $100,000.00 to the hospital transportation fund in memory of Past Potentate and Board Chairman Raymond H. Sayle. His love for the children will be shown as they have requested that this money be used to purchase 2 new vans in the next 2 years for the transportation of the crippled and burned child to our hospitals for treatment. Thank you Raymond, Judy and the Muskeeters for your love.
Your Divan is hard at work giving their “Heart to the Shrine” and continuing to strive to maintain the great work of the Shrine. This could not be done without the hardworking Nobles who choose to step up and take on the leadership role in their club or unit. We thank you for the excellent and enduring work you do for this great fraternity.
Yours in the Faith,
R. Wayne Bonner

Our 1st monthly prime rib night was a tremendous success where 2 can dine for $15.00 You are missing the fun and excitement if you are not participating in the many events that are being held each month.
We invite all to attend our “almost famous” hamburger night each Wednesday from 5 – 7 where you can splurge on all you can eat hot dogs, hamburgers, chili, and refreshments for only $3.00 each. The children love our moon bounce and a good evening is had by all!

Dear Nobles and Ladies,
I hope that you and your family have had another great month since we last talked and that you have visited YOUR Shrine temple and participated in the many functions we have offered. The ides of March are upon us and we are forging ahead in making plans for future Shrine activities scheduled for 2008. The Divan stayed on the road in February visiting many of our out of town Clubs and Units. Shaking hands, offering our support to their planned events, promoting membership, and extending an invitation to them to join the fun at the various events held right here at Al Chymia. Our out of town Nobles have been good to Al Chymia in the past few years as they continue to bring brand new Shriners into our organization. February was a busy and successful month as we began with the largest crowd ever at our Super Bowl party, a new twist to our hamburger night with tacos and spaghetti dinners alternating for those requesting a change of pace, and our newest endeavor the “Prime Rib Dinner” breaking all records for attendance. Lady Cissie and I would like to thank each of the 72 members of our Shrine family who accompanied us on our 10 day potentate’s cruise to make it one of the most successful in years. WOW – what an exciting place to be! And the fun just keeps on! March is looking just as busy so mark your calendars now to hold the dates! A “Cold Sands” Ceremony will be held on Saturday, March 8th and I ask you to talk to your Masonic friends and invite them to join our fraternity. The Imperial states that the #1 reason given by new Shriners for joining our great fraternity is that it is family oriented. Tell your friends about the many planned events and invite them to participate. There are 2 events this month for those of you who enjoy ballroom dancing. The Brass Band sponsors a Sunday afternoon tea dance each month from 3 – 6. On Saturday, March 15th Al Chymia presents an “Irish Ball” from 7 – 10 with music by the Rene Koopman Dance Band. This event is a fundraiser for our Temple and we ask you to support it .The Circus Workers party will be on March 19th providing all with an update on circus events. Our children’s Easter Egg hunt sponsored by the Clown Unit and Yoshi Club is open to all Shrine children and grandchildren and is a fun day to be had by all. If you would like to volunteer please call the Temple office.
CIRCUS, CIRCUS, CIRCUS!!! Sell tickets, ads or banners and earn commission for your unit, club or other designated parties. We need your help and support for the largest fraternal fundraiser of the year. Our ladies are also invited to sell so stop by the Temple office and pick up several forms and ask friends, family and employers to advertise at YOUR Shrine Circus. Buy your tickets, attend the circus and enjoy the camaraderie generated through fellowship and teamwork. (April 9 – 13, 10 performances). We need your support in 2008 to continue the great success of our Temple.
Membership is our #1 priority at Al Chymia Shrine this year.
Visit your Blue Lodge and solicit new members.
LET’SMAKE IT GREAT IN 2008!
Yours in the faith, R. Wayne Bonner
